Our “state of the art” hydroponic growing system uses 32 deep water pools, with a closed loop recirculating water system, as the growing and transport structure. The Clearwater Rochester facility , when completed, will be a fully integrated business operation, from seeding, to growing processes to harvesting and washing, and to on-site cold storage. of finished product.
Our closed loop water system supports water conservation and our controlled environment facility supports energy efficiency, and enhanced yields, with the use of energy efficient supplemental lighting, dynamic humidity control, “free steam” heating, and optimized nutrient feed systems. We will control our process, from nutrient delivery to the internal environmental conditions, using an advanced computer control software system.
This computer control hardware and software system will enable us to have real time production and quality information which will give us the ability to make changes in the process as needed, so that we can insure that we will make only the highest quality and safest produce available to the market. Our controlled environment agriculture facility is accessible only to our food safety trained and certified operations staff and also offers a physical barrier to pests and animals from entering the growing area, thus ensuring a higher level of safety than field grown or other traditional greenhouse facilities.

In addition, our production is far more predictable than field grown since we are not affected by weather conditions or labor fluctuations.
We will soon be able produce approximately 18-20 crops per year whereasconventional soil-based farming produces anywhere from 2-5 crops per year. The growing method to be employed means that our high yields make the land that our greenhouses are built upon very efficient as compared to conventional soiled-based farming.
Our system will produce consistent and high-quality produce. Our controlled greenhouse environment will allow for year-round production and predictable crop harvests…largely without production cost volatility.
Our system will be more environmentally friendly and sustainable than most traditional growing methods. Producing higher yields per acre, while using less water, is good for the environment. Today over 90% of the US lettuce supply is grown in California. Supplying local customers with freshly harvested, high quality crops (often within hours of harvesting), results in less fossil fuel consumption as shipments travel locally…not across the country.
Clearwater is currently constructing our agricultural system to be compatible with USDA organic certification and will be seeking certification as an organic operation to further meet the demands of our potential growth market.
